Guilford County Schools’ Professional and Community Education Center (PCEC) is a new 70,624 SF 3-story building for student and family learning, professional development, and teacher training located in Gateway Research Park in Greensboro, NC. Guilford County Schools’ innovative approach to support both community and academic programs is brought together here where there is space for teacher training classrooms, open tutoring and learning areas, a makerspace for students, a large lecture hall for teacher training, and GCS staff and related not-for-profit organizations. The design will utilize new building materials and push toward energy efficiency and renewable energy generation through solar power. GCS is requesting this building achieve Leed Silver certification to meet their ongoing operational cost sustainability goals.
